RothenklempeNEWS! - Newsletter for the village
February 2024
Dear fellow citizens,
Dear friends of Rothenklempenow,
With this annual edition, I am delighted to wish you and all of us a peaceful, healthy and happy 2024! I would like to sincerely thank all the dedicated people in our community, without whom we would not have made it this far. This year we are celebrating 90 years of our volunteer fire department, 20 years of our daycare center and elementary school. I look forward to seeing you at one or other of these events.
Only together are we strong! Stay healthy and confident!
Rainer Schulze
Rail strike, farmers' protest, demonstrations for democracy
- protest actions throughout Germany and also here in our community.
Rail strike, farmers' protests, demonstrations for democracy - the year 2024 starts with numerous protest actions throughout Germany. We took the signs of the protesting farmers hanging on the signs at the entrance to our municipality for weeks as an opportunity to ask the local farmers about the situation on their farms. We spoke to Heike Kühner, Head of Höfegemeinschaft Pommern, Susanne Menzel, Head of Grünhofer Milchviehzucht AG, and Georg von Grawert, Head of Gut Borken, about the challenges they face in their daily work.
Dr. Grumbach and Georg von Grawert were present in Berlin with a delegation for Gut Borken with three tractors, including during the closures of the freeway slip roads. "The uncoordinated cuts were just the tip of the scales, out of many points," says Georg von Grawert. "We don't want to be thrown into one camp and we don't want to support radicals, but the status of agriculture must change! Even if the Federal Farmers' Association is not always the right representative, it gives the sector a voice with this campaign."
Heike Kühner talks about the challenge of the general price increases. She explains: "With rising energy costs, machinery costs and material costs, revenues for slaughter animals or grain are not rising to the same extent, so that these price increases cannot be absorbed (...). The milk price has also fallen again recently," reports Susanne Menzel. The low yields make urgently needed investments on the farm impossible. She is behind the farmers' protests. However, she is not concerned with individual measures, but with the overall poor agricultural policy of the last 10 years. All three interviewees particularly emphasized the reduction in bureaucracy: "The bureaucratic requirements, the documentation obligations and the controls put us under a lot of pressure." In Menzel's opinion, animal welfare, environmental and climate protection should continue to be promoted, but the measures must be feasible for farms.
Kühner would also like to see changes in policy for more planning security: "It would be desirable (...) to have reliable conditions (...) so that you can reliably plan investments and know that you have the next 10 or 20 years to pay off a stable building or something like that. At Gut Borken, for example, it is currently the upcoming conversion of its own biogas plant from electricity to gas. The remuneration scheme expires in 2 years. It is not yet clear what premiums can be expected afterwards. Georg von Grawert also confirms that the prices of even organic products are not sufficient to operate profitably. However, Heike Kühner also hopes that people will rethink their consumer behavior, "(...) that consumers will think about which product they are spending money on and how this product was produced (...). Which country, which form of government am I supporting with my money and under what conditions do the people who make this product for me work?" Then, according to Kühner, more products would be produced in Germany and more jobs would be secured here in the region that are subject to German safety and social standards...read the full article online: www.rce-stettinerhaff.eu/rothenklempenow
Climate change and its consequences, such as heavy rainfall, heat and drought, naturally continue to pose the greatest challenge for farmers. Susanne Menzel therefore hopes for rain above all this year, because without water from above, there will be no grain, no maize, no milk and ultimately no meat.
We as the editorial team share this wish and hope for a fruitful year 2024 in the municipality!
New association for cultural exchange and community
A new association has been founded in Rothenklempenow. The association is called Q-Dorf e.V. and aims to promote art and culture as well as community involvement in the municipality. Association chairwoman Josefa Baum emphasizes: "Art and culture are not only an expression of our history, but also a driving force for a vibrant and inspiring future." The association organizes events such as readings, exhibitions, cinema and concerts and continues to run the Torgalerie. The changing exhibitions focus on topics related to local history. Residents of the community are invited to contribute their ideas and support the exhibition work.

Co-working experiment Over the summer of 2023, a temporary coworking space was set up in the old nursery. In other words, an open office for people who work in Rothenklempenow or come to us to work. The project is looking for collaborators. A combination with a café and library seems sensible. |

ince last year, stories from people in the community can be heard in the time booth (telephone booth at the farm store). The printed village maps in German, English and Polish provide an overview of other planned listening stations and themed trails. The whole thing can also be viewed as an interactive map on the RCE website. On March 16, the new themed trail "Place of Encounter" will be inaugurated with 6 additional listening stations. The meeting point for all walkers is 2 pm at the Bürgersaal.
